Natural Portuguese cork bark flats, ideal for terrariums, vivariums, bioactive enclosures and natural displays.
Unlike cork bark tubes, flats provide a broad, naturally textured surface that works particularly well for backgrounds, climbing areas, planting features and hardscape layouts where a flatter shape is more practical.
Ideal for:
- Terrarium, vivarium and bioactive hardscape
- Natural backgrounds and vertical surfaces
- Climbing and exploring surfaces
- Raised planting and moss displays
- Creating ledges and textured areas
- Natural-looking hardscape displays
Choose an individual cork bark flat in your preferred approximate length to suit the size and layout of your enclosure.Ā
Minimum widths increase with length: from approximately 8cm on our shortest pieces (20ā40cm) up to 12cm+ on our longest (60ā80cm), many pieces are wider than this minimum, as cork bark is a natural material.
Please note: Each piece is natural and unique. Shape, colour, texture, thickness, width, weight and exact dimensions will vary. Natural cracks, uneven edges, small loose particles and variations in surface texture are normal characteristics of cork bark and are not defects.
Product photographs are representative examples unless a listing explicitly states that you will receive the exact photographed piece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my cork bark look exactly like the photographs?
No. Cork bark is a natural product, so every piece will vary in shape, colour, texture and dimensions.
Is the cork treated before use?
Yes. Our Portuguese cork bark is heat-treated by the supplier to help eliminate pests before dispatch. As cork is a natural material, some loose debris, dust, natural markings or surface variation may still be present. For use in terrariums or vivariums, we recommend brushing off any loose material and rinsing with clean water if required before use.
How wide is a cork bark flat?
Width varies naturally from piece to piece and generally increases with length. As a guide, our 20-40cm flats are at least approximately 8cm wide, 40-60cm flats at least 10cm wide, and 60-80cm flats at least 12cm wide. Many pieces will be wider than these minimum measurements.
How can cork bark flats be used in a terrarium or vivarium?
Cork bark flats can be used as backgrounds, climbing surfaces, planting platforms, ledges or general hardscape features. Their flatter shape makes them particularly useful where a full cork tube would take up too much space.
How do I mount a cork bark flat as a background?
Cork bark flats can be secured to the back or sides of a terrarium or vivarium using an appropriate enclosure-safe fixing method. If using an adhesive or sealant, always check that it is suitable for your enclosure and allow it to cure fully before introducing animals.

Gifting a terrarium with live plants
As plants need water and light to thrive they'll need to be looked after. Once you receive your parcel, simply place the plants in indirect light and water them when the soil becomes dry. The plants can be wrapped before being gifted. As long as the plants are properly cared for, the terrarium can be made at any convenient time.
