XL DIY Terrarium Kit: With Bonsai Tree H: 38 cm | 'Akita'

The kit itself is well put together and the bonsai arrived in good condition, but a few things don't match the premium price.

The main plant is too tall for the container it's supplied with. It touches the lid, so there's no headroom at all, it looks like it was selected for a taller, narrower terrarium rather than this wider format. Either the plant or the vessel is the wrong match for the other.

The cork lid is the next disappointment. In the product photos it sits neatly into the opening, but the one I received is oversized and only drops into the glass by about half a centimetre. It rests on top rather than seating properly, so it doesn't give the snug seal the images suggest. The integrated light in the lid is also underpowered, it's not strong enough to do much for the planting underneath, also because of the covering of the taller plant almost covering the opening area, so it ends up being decorative rather than useful.

There's also a defect on the top edge of the glass. My partner initially thought it was cracked; on closer inspection it's an imperfection in the glass rather than damage, but it's visible enough to be mistaken for a crack, which isn't what you want on a display piece. The cork lid hides it a bit, so we felt it was not a returning reason, but it brings the scoring of this product significantly down.

None of these are catastrophic on their own, but at this price point I'd expect the components to go through a proper QA check before shipping, a lid that fits the vessel it's sold with, glass without visible flaws on the rim, and a plant sized for the container it comes in.

I couldn’t be happier with it! It came with absolutely everything we needed to create a beautiful ecosystem. We decided to get all the tools as well, and I’m so glad we did because we ended up using every single one, definitely worth adding those to your order!

One thing that really stood out was how well everything was packaged. The glass jar and all the plants arrived in perfect condition - no damage, no wilted leaves, nothing out of place (was worried about the bonsai tree). But it’s clear they take great care to ensure the kit gets to you safely.

I was also impressed with the number of plants included. I had read a few reviews saying people wished there were more plants, but honestly, we found the amount to be just right. Plus, the kit came with plenty of moss—so much that we didn’t even end up using all of it!

The whole process was fun and easy to follow, and we’re absolutely thrilled with how our terrarium turned out. Highly recommend this kit if you’re looking for a creative and hassle free project!

Bought as a Christmas present and we did it next day. Boyfriend loves it, the kit was pretty much exactly what we needed to make the terrarium. As others were saying maybe one more plant would be good but honestly I’m happy with how ours turned out and we ended up actually not using all the moss. I also named a day to collect and everything was ready when I collected, no complaints.

Got this as a gift for my mother, she put it together immediately and loves it. Only issue is the activated charcoal split and was everywhere and one of the brushes was bent. BUT mum is loving it and enjoys looking after it.

For the price I expected a bit more. Seen this kind of thing in the garden centres then searched on line and here I am. Just felt like it needed a bit more for the size and price. I actually went out and bought an extra plant to fill a bit of space. Also got a couple of ornaments. The included rocks for me was a bit small and I think something a bit bigger would of made a bit more of an impact. The bonsai tree is a bit tall because it looks like it's pushing the cork lid off. Yes the tree is planted quite low with only 1cm of clay pebbles beneath the root ball. This is a nice kit and I don't really want to knock it because there's some good included items but somehow for the price just needed a bit more. Almost forgot the stick with the cork on the end was missing.

My wife loved this, so 5 star for sure. I asked her if there was anything at all that could be improved, she said she could have done with one more small plant, she had to split it in 2 because the jar is huge.

I love this… bought as a gift for my husband… came perfectly packaged and the plants all looked healthy… I spent a happy few hours planting it and am so pleased with it (husband loves it too!) definitely get the tool kit with this the brush and tamper down thing are essential!! A week in and it’s all looking good!!

We started small and have gone mad. Really pleased very relaxing building and now enjoying it! Thank you 🙏

There was a bit of a problem with the delivery. They knew it was a present and sent a replacement next day delivery. I would definitely buy from them again.

Given as a gift, recipient was thrilled, thought it was beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed arranging it
